Terms of Use

Last updated 29 June 2026

By using Sayplain you agree to these terms. Please read them, especially the part about advice.

What Sayplain does

Sayplain reads documents you provide and produces a plain-English explanation of what they appear to say and what you might do next. It is a tool to help you understand your own documents.

Not professional advice

Sayplain is not a substitute for professional advice. Its explanations are for general understanding only and are not legal, financial, medical, tax or any other professional advice. For anything important, or anything involving legal rights, money, health or deadlines, check with the organisation that sent the document or a qualified professional. Free services like Citizens Advice Bureau and Community Law can also help.

Accuracy

Sayplain uses AI, which can misread documents or get things wrong. Always check important details, such as amounts, dates and deadlines, against the original document. You are responsible for decisions you make.

Acceptable use

  • Only upload documents you have the right to share.
  • Don't use Sayplain for anything unlawful, or to upload harmful or abusive content.
  • Don't attempt to disrupt, overload or reverse-engineer the service.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account.

Pro subscription

Some features require a paid Pro subscription. Pricing and billing terms are shown at the point of purchase and handled by Stripe. You can cancel at any time; access continues until the end of the paid period.

Availability

We aim to keep Sayplain available and accurate, but we provide it "as is" without warranties, to the extent the law allows.

Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sayplain is not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service or reliance on its explanations. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act that cannot be excluded.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
